Eluru: A horrific ordeal of four girl students at a government SC hostel at Buttaipalem village in West Godavari district surfaced on Tuesday. The police took into custody the woman cook at the hostel into custody for allegedly pushing them into flesh trade.


The grisly incident came to light following an anonymous letter to the District Collector, revealing shocking details of the entire episode. The Collector immediately directed Superintendent of Police K Raghuram Reddy to investigate into the crime.

The police, who swung into action, threw a cordon around the hostel, and carried the search operation inside the building. They also took the woman cook in the hostel for interrogation. She reportedly spilled the beans. Based on the confession made by her, they took four persons, all residents of Buttaipalem village, into custody.

The girls were sent to the government hospital nearby for a medical examination. The Superintendent of Police said stringent action would be taken against the culprits. Apart from charges under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Atrocities Act, Nirbhaya Act would also be invoked against the offenders. He warned of strong action in cases relating to crime against women.
