Man held for making minor pregnant

Hyderabad: The Tukaramgate police on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly raping a minor and impregnating her with a false promise of marriage.

According to police, the accused has been identified as D Swamy Dayanand, 25, of North Lalaguda, who was working for a call centre in Hitec City. He allegedly had an affair with 17-year-old minor girl living in his neighbourhood, which continued for several months. Swamy, who was absconding after hearing the news of teenager’s pregnancy, was arrested by the police on complaint of her father, K Srinivas. The accused was booked under sections 420 (Cheating) and 376 (Rape) of IPC. “After tracing him, we arrested and took him for remand,” said T Laxminarayana, Inspector, Tukaramgate.
