‘Green Bucket Challenge\' Kicks off at UoH. To sensitise and inculcate a sense of responsibility towards ‘environmental ownership’ amongst the youth, Prof V Venkata Ramana, professor, School of Management Studies (SMS), University of Hyderabad and director, India Infrastructure Finance Company, initiated a unique green campaign titled ‘Green Bucket Challenge’. The campaign aims to spread awareness about being clean and green right from a young age.

The challenge is the brain child of UoH professor Venkata Ramana and aims to spread awareness about going green from a young age. This will be followed up by an initiative on Swachh Bharat on October 2

To sensitise and inculcate a sense of responsibility towards ‘environmental ownership’ amongst the youth, Prof V Venkata Ramana, professor, School of Management Studies (SMS), University of Hyderabad and director, India Infrastructure Finance Company, initiated a unique green campaign titled ‘Green Bucket Challenge’. The campaign aims to spread awareness about being clean and green right from a young age.

The campaign was formally launched on Sunday by Green evangelist and KV Ranga Reddy's grandson, K Vishweshwar Reddy, who is also the MP from Chevella.

As part of 'Green Bucket' initiative, students along with the faculty took up the cudgel to clean and green the SMS campus by planting saplings through Shramdaan and nurture them. They also intend to create awareness and take up a sensitisation campaign within the UoH and other institutions in the city.

The 'Green Bucket' is a precursor to the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ enunciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to make India clean and is being launched on October 2 all over the country.

The 'Green Bucket' initiative - 2014 will try and accomplish the objectives of cleaning and greening of educational campuses, planting saplings through ‘Shramdaan’ and nurturing them and undertaking awareness and sensitisation events in campuses in general and other institutions.

To commemorate the auspicious occasion, K Vishweshwar Reddy; NVS Reddy; Prof. Ramakrishna Ramaswamy and Prof. Venkata Ramana joined the students and faculty of the School of Management Studies in cleaning the school and planting around 200 saplings on the premises. They also pledged to continue the green initiatives and bring in the active involvement of the stakeholders in this movement. The next event is proposed on October 2 at the School of Management Studies, to commemorate the launch of Swachh Bharat.
