4 policemen, 6 others taken into custody

• Inspector of Police, three constables allegedly provided unofficial escort to three persons, who were shot dead

• Hirelings from Mumbail mafia gang are suspected to have carried out the operation

Vijayawada: New facts have come to light in the broad daylight murder of three persons on the national highway in Krishna district on September 24. The alleged hirelings from Mumbai stopped the vehicle in which Gandham Mariah, Pagidi Maraiah and Bandoti Nageswara Rao were travelling and shot them dead.

The Vijayawada city police, according to reliable sources, have taken three policemen, including an Inspector of Police, attached to the Eluru police department, for interrogation in connection with the murder case. The allegation against them was that the Inspector of Police had provided unofficial escort to the vehicle in which Gandham Mariah, Pagidi Maraiah and Bandoti Nageswara Rao travelled from Gannavaram airport after alighting a flight from Mumbai.

The Inspector of Police had allegedly made available three constables to escort the three persons while travelling from Ganavaram to Eluru. The three constables had reportedly travelled by another vehicle and escorted the three persons. But the assailants were able to carry out the operation.

Meanwhile, the police issued a look-out notice to all airports against the suspects in the case to ensure that the accused cannot escape to a foreign country. Accounts of suspects in various banks were also been frozen. The police already took six persons into custody for interrogation.
