Ramachandrapuram (Medak): As part of the Bathukamma celebrations being organised across the State, HMTV and The Hans India jointly hosted the festival on Sunday Market grounds here on Wednesday.
Local MLA Mahipal Reddy, MLC Bhupal Reddy, corporator Pushpa Nagesh, MPTC member Yadigiri Yadav and other leaders enthusiastically took part in the event. Women in large numbers participated in the celebrations. rallies from their homes to the venue. Women actively participated and played Bathukamma. Dandia, Kolatam and other cultural forms were also organised.
AT the end of celebrations Bathukammas were carried to the ‘Rayani Cheruvu’ and immersed. Women distributed ‘Saddulu’ and prasadam among themselves with devotion.
A competition was organised and prizes were given. The best Bathukamma got Rs 21,000, the second prize was Rs 16,000 and the third prize was for Rs 11,000. Three consolation prize winners received a slik sari each.
