Hyderabad is a city where you will find almost every possible cuisine from all over the globe, how can our Telengana Cuisine be left behind?Offlate many restaurants have started to introduce these delicacies into their menu. One of my recent favorite place to savor this cuisine is at “Simply South – By Chef Chalapati Rao” located opposite to the Film nagar temple in Jubilee Hills.

Anyone who was a frequent to South Indian restaurant at Dakshin at ITC Kakitya, will be synonymous with the name Chef Chalapati Rao who now is the man behind the restaurant Simply South. Challu as he is fondly called is the Hyderabad’s own celebrity chef.

A quick glance at the menu and you can see delicacies from all the South Indian states, thus the name Simply South. Telengana Cuisine is the spiciest among all the Telugu speaking regions, which is known for its Hot, Spicy and Tangy taste.

UragaiMamsamwhich is served here is my current favorite among the lot which is delicious, spicy and tangy. The tender pieces of lamb are cooked to perfection in a pickled masala. This pickled boneless mutton delicacy goes brilliantly well with steamed rice, rotis and parota.

AmbadaGosht is another Hyderabadi delicacy which you shouldn’t miss, Gongura is a rich source of Iron and vitamins, and this when cooked with tender pieces of lamb, it is sure to pamper your taste buds.

Being a Hyderabadi, a meal is not complete without a biryani , I noticed something called JujeJan Biryani in the menu. You might have tasted Hyderabadi Biryani or Andhra version of Biryani/Pulao, but Jujejan Biryani is entirely a different touch to the age old traditional biryani, At first the chicken is cooked with basmati rice and then finished on dum, which makes it more lite, flavorful, and doesn’t fill your stomach, therefore making you go for repeat of it.

And lastly finished my meal with Sheer Kurma, which is a mughali traditional sweet dish that is popular during the festive season of Ramzanand very few restaurants offer it though out the year, Sheer Kurma is strikingly similar to SemiyaPayasam, however this is made with Milk, dates and much finer version of vermicelli. As soon as I had the first spoon, I knew this was what I was craving for all this while, it is extremely delicious and the taste still lingers in my tongue, this can be served either hot or chilled, but I prefer the hot version of it.

Overall, if you want to experience a true flavor of age old recipes do visit this place and iam sure you would not be disappointed.
