The visually challenged cricketers have been selected to play for India at the event which would staged in South Africa next month

Durga Rao, D Venkatesh, I Ajay Kumar Reddy and B Madhu have been selected for the fourth ODI World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa from November 25- December 9. While Durga Rao and Venkatesh hail from Srikakulam, Ajay, who is the Indian team’s vice captain, belongs to Guntur.

Making his way into the Indian team for the first time is 23-year-old G Madhu from Nalgonda. "I did not expect a call so soon. Consistent performance in the selection trials at Tirupati helped me," said the middle order batsman.

The team was felicitated at a function at the Devnar Foundation for the Blind on Wednesday. Dr A Saibaba Goud, founder chairman, said, "The cricketers have worked hard and it is a great achievement for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Blind cricketers do not get their due and the government needs to recognise their talent."
