Minister for excise and prohibition T Padma Rao and incharge minister for Hyderabad district confirmed that additional 22.5 Million Gallons a Day (MGD) of drinking water from Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Phase-III would come to city by this December end and the entire project of bringing 90 MGD would be completed by March 2015.
Speaking at a medical conference on Monday at Kondapur Master Balancing Reservoir premises post the inspection of the on-going works of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Phase-III at Sahebnagar, Gungal, Godakandla, Nasralapally, Kodandapur, Rao said that the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Scheme of bringing 172 MGD to the city would be completed by March 2015.
After completion of these two projects, the GHMC and its surrounding areas would be free from drinking water problems, much to the objective of the Chief Minister that every house hold would be supplied with tap water.
The minister also released a folder on ‘Save Water-Every Drop Counts’ on the occasion.
M Jagadeeshwar, managing director, M Satyanarayana, executive director, G Rameshwar Rao, director (operations), M Konda Reddy, director (project-1), M Yellaswamy, director(project-2), HMWSSB, accompanied the minister during his visit.
