Vijayawada: The Communist Party of India (CPI), Andhra Pradesh Council, on Saturday blamed the Telangana State government for power generation at Srisailam reservoir. The council which met here criticised the TS government's decision as that would deprive the drinking water for people in Rayalaseema and also Chennai.

The CPI said the State had decided to maintain 854 feet water level at the project and had issued GO No MS 69. The Bifurcation Act also had clearly mentioned about the priorities of the river water, the CPI pointed out. However, the TS government was going against all these decisions harming the interests of the people and fueled tension between the two States.

The CPI appealed to the Central government and the Krishna River Management Board to intervene and settle the issue before it took an ugly turn. The CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna, the party national leader K Narayana and others were present at the Council meeting.
