Surrendered Maoist says he was lured into Dalam, Sidaam Lakshman alias Surender surrendered to the police at the office of the Superintendent of Police here on Saturday.
Adilabad: Sidaam Lakshman alias Surender surrendered to the police at the office of the Superintendent of Police here on Saturday. Speaking to the media, Superintendent of Police Dr Gajarao Bhoopal gave the details of Surender, Maoist belonging to Mangi Dalam.
Speaking to the media, the SP said that Sidaam Lakshman was a fisherman and also used to sell firewood. Gradually, over the years, he came into contact with one Kanthi Ravi, husband of a woman member of Mangi Dalam Kanti Lingavva who used to come to Kolanguda to collect teakwood.
Ravi lied to Lakshman that he would provide him a job for Rs 20,000 per month, misguided him, made him heavily drunk, took him on his motor cycle in July to Mangi and admitted him in his dalam. After coming to know that he was taken for a ride by Ravi and was made to join the Mangi Dalam without his knowledge, he was forced to remain in the dalam against his wishes. After two days, he developed contacts with Mangi Dalam representatives Shobhan alias Charles and Jyothakka and remained with them.
On the morning of July 3, Surender was taken by the representatives of Mangi Dalam to a secret destination and after 17 days, Bandi Prakash came to him and gave him a bag containing plastic cover, water can, umbrella and a country made pistol. He was forced to remain with them as he had no other choice.
Police forces rounded them up near the Kooreghat forest area in Devpur mandal in the district on July 31 while they were cooking and were told to surrender. The members of the Dalam opened fire against the police. When the policemen retaliated, they had to run for their lives. Lakshman and Jyothakka ran away into the forest with other members.
He said there was any easy way to surrender and those who want to surrender to the polie could ring up the mobile number 9440795000. The state government would help them to rehabilitate with a financial package and protect them, he said.
