Sexual harassment at a Hyderabad school
It looks like the city is treading on the path that made Bengaluru infamous. Not long after the city woke to the ghastly incident of sexual harassment and assault on a six-year-old at a school in Bengaluru, reports are emerging that a similar incident might have happened at a school in the city.

The alarming news broke out post-inspection by the Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR), where girl students of St Paul’s High School, Hyderguda, complained about sexual harassment by a male teacher. It was learnt that parents had filed a complaint with the CPCR regarding sexual harassment and corporal punishment and, acting on it, the commission members along with the DEO inspected the school on Thursday.
Commission members Dr Mamata Raghuveer and Mohd Raheemuddin spoke to the children and learnt that they were sexually harassed. The commission members sent a report to the district Collector. The report also stated that students were being subjected to corporal punishment by the principal and teachers.
The allegations of sexual harassment are being downplayed. The members suggested the management to set up a parent's committee, an internal complaint committee and a child rights committee in each class.
They have ordered the management to prepare the child rights policy and display it and directed the principal to appear before the commission along with the action taken report on November 6.
Apparently, the school had been served notices earlier by the CPCR on complaints of corporal punishment, for which the management failed to reply. However, no case was filed against the teacher and the furious parents stated that the school management’s political links were a reason for the inaction.
