TV9 may be unblocked in Telangana
Immediate Restoration of transmission of the Telugu news channel TV9 in Telangana has been ordered by The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal. The chief secretary asked the state DGP to ensure protection to the MSOs who broadcast the signals.
New Delhi: Immediate Restoration of transmission of the Telugu news channel TV9 in Telangana has been ordered by The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal. The chief secretary asked the state DGP to ensure protection to the MSOs who broadcast the signals.
The Tribunal in its order said that Telangana’s additional solicitor general Ramachandra Rao had informed it of the steps taken by the state government to provide full security to the MSOs who resume the broadcasts.
He produced a letter dated October 25, 2014, from the chief secretary of Telangana to the DGP, Telangana, stating that MSOs should be given protection and to ensure that no harm should be done to MSOs as a result of the broadcast as per the orders of Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal.
The MSOs said that they are ready to resume the channel broadcast if the state government issues a public statement to protect the MSOs.
