At a media conference on Friday, senior party leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy said the TS Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his government were playing vote bank politics and had kept away from the celebrations to appease the their ally AIMIM.

He said it was regrettable that the TRS government which had issued a circular directing its officials to observe the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as the Rashtriya Ekta Divas ignored the Run for Unity. None of the Ministers bothered even to mark their presence at the event, he said.

TRS had been repeatedly speaking about the importance of September 17 during the agitation for separate state.
But, post bifurcation and once in power, it was now silent on celebrating September 17 as Liberation Day as official function, he said.
