Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Cyber Crime police on Friday arrested a person on the charge of impersonating and creating a fake Facebook account and posting comments.
Shiva Krishna Tripuraneni, 24, a resident of Vanasthalipuram, was arrested on Friday and was charged with abetting the offence under Section 509 of the IPC and 66 A of the IT Act. Based on a complaint made by the victim on February 4, the crime team registered a case and took up investigation.
“The accused, who works as a database programme in an IT firm in Gachibowli, hacked a portal www.aspiringminds.in and accessed its database where details of candidates registered with it for employability test were listed. From the database, he found the complainant’s mobile number and sent SMS to her. When she refused to reply, he felt offended and created fake FB account named ‘Telugu girls’ and posted her number with an intention that she would be harassed by strangers,” Additional DCP (Crimes), Cyberabad B Srinivas Reddy said.
“The strangers under the false presumption called the complainant and made friendly advances which caused great inconvenience to her,” said an investigating officer with the Cyber Crime Police, Cyberabad.
