Slams ‘poaching’ of its leaders by TRS as anti-democratic

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Friday resolved to fight against the TS Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over the latter’s ‘Operation Akarsh,’ aimed at poaching the Congress legislators, and the party in Telangana state in the ensuing maiden budget session that is scheduled to begin from November 5. TPCC chief Ponnala Lakshmaiah conducted a meeting attended by CLP leader K Jana Reddy and senior leaders- D Srinivas, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, D Sridhar Babu and Shabbir Ali at party head office, Gandhi Bhavan, on Friday.

They took strong exception to KCR’s ‘cheating politics’ and felt that poaching the Congress MLAs was against the spirit of parliamentary democracy.

Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Lakshmaiah said the party would take legal action against the Congress MLAs who switched loyalties to TRS recently. He alleged that KCR resorted to allurement and blackmail politics. The party would raise the issue of party defections in the budget session and demand explanation from KCR.

Instead of fulfilling the promises made during the election, KCR was concentrating more on weakening the Opposition parties by encouraging defections, the PCC Chief said, while adding people would teach a befitting lesson to the TRS government if it continued neglecting the people’s problems.
