Visakhapatnam: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) believed in infusing young blood and could do without seniors who had quit, party district president Gudivada Amarnath said here on Friday.

Asked what he had to say about senior leader Konathala Ramakrishna’s exit from the party, Amarnath said the matter was closed on Thursday itself. He had said only what he was asked to say with respect to relieving Mr Ramakrishna from the party and nothing more, he clarified.

To another question if more were likely to quit YSRCP, he said he did not think so.

When a reporter pointed out that Araku MLA of YSRCP Kidari Sarveswara Rao was conspicuous by his absence as only Paderu MLA Giddi Eswari and Madugula MLA Budi Mutyala Naidu were present, Amarnath replied that Sarveswara Rao could not be reached as he was touring some remote area in his Araku Valley constituency in the Visakha Agency region and therefore had no information on the media conference.

When a reporter asked Mutyala Naidu if he was also leaving the party and whether Konathala group sought his support, he said there was no such thing and he would talk about it separately at a later date. Former MLAs Malla Vijaya Prasad, Tynala Vijaya Kumar and Tippala Gurumurthy Reddy, senior leaders Tippala Nagireddy, Vamsikrishna Srinivas Yadav, Pakki Diwakar, Ravi Reddy and others were present along with their supporters at the crowded press conference.
