AP braces for another cyclone, The State Revenue Disaster Management department has asked the Collectors of the three districts to be on high alert.

Hyderabad/Visakhapatnam: The State government has alerted its machinery in three north coastal districts - Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam - in the wake of an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) alert of a possible landfall of another cyclonic storm, ‘Ashobba’, in the region in the next 24 hours.
The State Revenue Disaster Management department has asked the Collectors of the three districts to be on high alert. A senior Revenue Disaster Management (RDM) official told The Hans India that a meeting of the senior officials of the RDM had already taken stock of the situation, and put in place all necessary measures to meet any eventuality. The RDM has asked the Army, Navy, Air force, and Civil Defense Force (CDF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to be prepared to render necessary assistance, the official said.
By 8.30 pm, the low pressure system formed into a deep depression over central Bay of Bengal, nearly 560 km southeast of Visakhapatnam.
The system would move northwest wards and intensify further into a cyclonic storm by 5.30 am on Friday and continue to be so for next 12 hours. It is expected to move west-northwestwards towards Andhra Pradesh coast. Further, it is expected to weaken gradually into a depression while reaching near the coast on Saturday night. Meanwhile, weathermen said that following the impact of the system developing in the Bay of Bengal, many places over the districts of Andhra Pradesh would witness moderate rainfall on November 8 and 9.
During the same time, squally wind speed reaching 35 to 45 kmph gusting to 55kmph would prevail for 24 hours, along and off Andhra Pradesh coast on these two days.
The IMD report said some parts in north coastal Andhra might receive heavy rainfall measuring up to 25 cm. The lowest minimum temperatures of 16 and 15 degrees Celsius was recorded at Nandigama and Arogyavaram in Andhra Pradesh and Adilabad and Medak in Telangana respectively. The fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea and cautionary signal No. 1 was hoisted at all the AP ports.
