Restaurant Review: Wild Olives Hyderabad. Wild Olives is the new kid on the block to the ever increasing food joints at the Gachibowli corridor. Was pleasantly surprised to see an Italian restaurant come up at this stretch. Wild Olives is in the same building which houses KFC, right next to HP petrol bunk.

With enough talk about this place on food forums, I’ve already made up my mind to visit them for Friday dinner. Reached there at about 9:00 pm and was surprised to see the restaurant 100% occupied and it dint look like I’ll get a table for the next one hour. Determined, I waited for approximately 45 minutes after which I was offered a table.

The ambiance is decent enoughwith contemporary interiors and frames with pictures depicting European culture hung on the walls. The menu was eclectic with a pot pourri of sandwiches, thin crust pizzas, salads and desserts, almost everything an Italian restaurant could offer.

Zuppa-di-verdure which is a blend of mushroom, zucchini and lentils made into a soup was perfectly balanced to start my meal with a portion of garlic bread being a perfect accompaniment which was crispy and perfect but instead I would’ve loved to have an assortment of different breads which goes well with the soup. Greek Pizza ordered was fresh and simply outstanding, perhaps it was one of the best I’ve had in the recent times. The thin crust pizza was perfectly done with fresh vegetables of Spinach, tomato, broccoli, capsicum and olives. What I liked the most about the pizzas are that it doesn’t give a burnt flavor like many other places, in fact this was perfectly made.

For the mains, was glad that I ordered for Navarin of lamb which is basically chunks of lamb cooked with mushroom and onions and fused with brown sauce served along with cumin flavored rice. The lamb was cooked to perfection and it was extremely tender. The cumin flavor in the rice was not very evident but loved it with the brown sauce. The Chicken Lasagna was another star of the evening. It was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. For the deserts from the options of a blueberry cheese cake, tiramisu and chocolate fondant, I opted for Mango cheese cake which was quite different from the regular cheesecakes.

On the service front, being just the 12th day with 100% occupancy, there were slight goofups in the service but nevertheless the food brought a big smile on my face which was perfect for a Friday evening

The pricing in the menu is almost half of any other restaurants in its league and to add onto it they have an inaugural offer of 20% discount on the food which brought the bill to ridiculously cheap. Wild Olives comes as a much needed reprise to the existing food scene in the IT corridor. Give a break to the regular Indian or Oriental cuisines and go for this one, I am sure you wouldn’t be disappointed.
