APSRTC to get new fleet of buses
The fleet of APRSTC is to be strengthened soon. Over 1000 buses are to be added to the fleet by 2015. The rumors are flying around in the government circles about the privatization of APSRTC which is suffering huge losses. AP transport minister ruled out the rumors and said that the government of Andhra Pradesh is determined to strengthen the APSRTC. He said that 1080 new busses would be introduced into existing fleet.

“Already 80 new buses have been added. Out of the over 1,000 new buses, APSRTC would get 350 new buses under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, while 150 will be purchased from its own finances and remaining will be added through hired and other avenues. The APSRTC has accumulated losses amounting to Rs 2,800 crore. We want to make it a profit-making one,” Rao said adding that over 54 lakh passengers travel in APRTC buses every day.
