Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh State government has so far figured out nearly 60 lakh accounts under its agriculture loan waver scheme and some more time has been given to sort out minor hitches, said the State Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he said that it was decided to pay up 20 per cent of the announced amount under the loan waiver scheme. And, the loan amounts of less than Rs 50,000 could be cleared in a single settlement. He said that the banks had agreed to roll over and extend fresh loans on payment of 20 per cent by the State government as part of the loan waiver scheme, he added.

A final decision on this would be taken on return of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu from his Japan trip. He said the government has also decided to pay up 20 per cent of loan of the DWACRA groups and the total estimated loan of SHGs was estimated at Rs 7,500 crore, he informed.

He refuted the allegations leveled against the government by the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee chief Raghuveera Reddy that the government has got no time to identify the drought-affected mandals in the State, as it has been engaged in real estate business in the name of State capital.

Pulla Rao said the process of identifying the drought-affected mandals has been going on and the same would be announced soon. Taking exception to the remarks of the PCC chief, he said it was during the Congress regime, that from the time of YS Rajasekhara Reddy to N Kiran Kumar Reddy, that Congress government had left the governance to winds and its leaders had been engaged in the reality business.

The Minister further clarified that 30,000 acres would be taken for building the capital. But, the government has decided to identify 60,000 acres of unutilised land and rejuvenate it for agriculture production to compensate the loss of produce caused by taking the agriculture lands for building State capital.
