Vishakha makes a comeback, The bubbly actress feels that Tollywood is in an interesting phase right now. “For the past couple of years, Tollywood is making sensible films like ‘Swamy Ra Ra’.

Vishakha SinghVishakha Singh, Nara Rohit’s leading lady in ‘Rowdy Fellow’, is not new to Tollywood. The actress, who featured in last year’s surprise Bollywood hit ‘Fukrey’, has done a Telugu film, ‘Gnapakam’ in 2007, but the film’s dismal performance made her to fade away from public memory. “I don’t’ even think the DVD’s of the film are available in the market,” she smiles while adding; “I’m a default actor. I’m someone who was never on the hunt for roles; in fact roles came my way. If I like the role and people who are involved with a film, I will be a part of the project.”

So, how did she bag ‘Rowdy Fellow’? “Director Krishna Chaitanya is a good friend of mine. Last year he saw the films that I featured in, only to realise that her friend is an actress, in fact a good one. He later narrated the film’s script and wanted me to be a part of the project,” says the actress, who did her post graduation in advertising and public relations.

Speaking about her character in the film, she says, “I play Megha, a naughty, shy yet rebellious girl. And of course she is Rohit’s love interest.” The film, she says, is the story of an egoistic rich spoilt brat Rana Pratap (played by Rohit).

Prod her if it was difficult to romance Rohit bearing in mind that he comes across as a reticent individual, she says, “Ever Sridevi, I was told, was very reserved on the sets, but the moment she goes in front of the camera, it was an altogether different ball game. Being shy in real life doesn’t necessarily mean that one would be shy in front of the camera too. We both were very comfortable on the sets and shared a good camaraderie.”

The bubbly actress feels that Tollywood is in an interesting phase right now. “For the past couple of years, Tollywood is making sensible films like ‘Swamy Ra Ra’.

Though I’m a fan of commercial cinema too much of mass masala is not good for stomach, right? The variety is always good and people are ready to embrace it,” she says.
