Eminent personalities spoke at the two-day film festival in Osmania University titled, ‘Our Lives…To Live – Seeking a Just World’ on Friday

Hyderabad: The Department of Communication and Journalism, Osmania University (OU), in collaboration with ThefdZone and International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT) India, organised a two-day film festival titled, ‘Our Lives…To Live – Seeking a Just World’ on November 21. The chief guests of the event were Uma Sudhir, Resident Editor of NDTV, Allam Narayana, Chief Editor of Namaste Telangana and Hrikesh Ingle, EFLU professor.

The event started off with screening of a short film and there was a speech by B Balaswamy, the head of journalism department. This event took place under the supervision of Prof Padmaja Shaw. She spoke about the issues related to women in society. It was taken ahead by Uma Sudhir who spoke at length with students during a questionnaire session.

There were many enthusiastic students who shot questions related to film making, journalism, empowerment of women etc and she answered each and every one of them in an impressive way. She said that there was a difference the way a journalist perceived a story as he or she can understand what lies behind the reality of the story. Uma also emphasised on the fact that journalists should enlighten the society so that people can understand the situations.

Allam Narayana started off saying that films were not his genre but he was at the event to speak about women and child empowerment in Telangana. He said that media has a big role to play in today’s society and they should concentrate on real news rather than going behind advertisers.
