CSS to popularise social work education
With the commitment to promote knowledge on social causes and encourage intent for serving the community at large, the Center for Social Sciences (CSS) was launched in the presence of a galaxy of dignitaries.
With the commitment to promote knowledge on social causes and encourage intent for serving the community at large, the Center for Social Sciences (CSS) was launched in the presence of a galaxy of dignitaries.
CSS is a social enterprise engaged in community based services through education and social services to meet the needs of the people and the community. It is committed to the cause of Social Sciences, an initiative to promote knowledge which is essential for various social causes and issues for training people who believe in acquiring knowledge with the intent for serving the community, be it social or political.
CSS intends to involve the common man in the philanthropic work through its Diploma Course in Social Work. It will use capacity building programmes to make the community fairer, safer, healthier and prosperous. CSS also announced the launch of a Diploma in Social Work programme; a first-of-its-kind course related to social work in India. This integrated online and offline course is specifically designed for individuals interested in making social impact right at the grassroots level.
The course is open for working professionals, students, social work practitioners, government representatives and others. Eligibility for the program is Class 10. The duration of the course is three months. The mode of instruction is online and offline. Panel discussions will be conducted every alternate Saturday. The diploma will have five modules including ‘Social Work and its Scope’, ‘Voluntary and Professional Social Work’, ‘Fields of Social Work’, ‘Voluntary Organizations’ and ‘Indian Constitution- Rights and Duties / RTI’
A diploma will be given to students after the evaluation based on the assignments and a case study. The orientation of the first batch of DSW programme took place on Friday at ISB, Gachibowli.
Apart from Ayesha Rubina, founder of CSS; B Shah, director, CSS; Michael Mullins, US Consul General; Andrew McAllister, Deputy Commissioner, British High Commission; Najeeb, international ambassador for peace – UN; Ruchika Sharma, founder, Being Women; Asadulla Pasha, educationist and lawyer and ID Prasad, IAS (retired) participated in the event.
