Hyderabad: In a ghastly accident, a 27-year-old man was killed, while two others were injured when an Audi car hit a two-wheeler from rear near MJ College in Banjara Hills on Saturday midnight. The driver of the car fled the spot.

According to police, the victim Moghal Shashavali, 29, a private employee and resident of Borabanda died on the spot when the car hit the bike from the rear on which he was travelling along with his friend Omair Singh Malik towards Punjagutta. Ravi Anand, who was also injured in the accident, was driving a different bike on the same route. The injured were taken to private hospital for treatment.

According to police, the victim Moghal Shahvali, 27, a private employee, died on the spot when the car hit the bike from the rear on which three persons were travelling in the same direction towards Punjagutta. Two others, who received injuries, were taken to a private hospital for treatment. The occupants of the car fled the spot, leaving behind the vehicle. A case has been registered under sections 304 (A) (causing death by negligence) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of IPC. “We will arrest the culprits on Monday morning,” said Sub-Inspector Vinod Kumar.

According to eye-witnesses at the scene, the car had a male and a female occupants, who were allegedly in an inebriated condition. The car first hit the bike and then rammed into the divider. With the help of registration number, police traced the car ownership to Manbhum Constructions in West Marredpally. However, the friends of the victim alleged that the police were showing laxity in arresting the accused. “Huge damage was caused by rash driving, the tyres were burst and air bags opened. It is a clear case of drunken driving. Even though the accident took place at night, the police failed to take the accused into custody,” said Rahman, victim's friend.
