Jeevitha given 2-year jail, granted bail
Cine actor and Telangana State BJP official spokesperson Jeevitha Rajasekhar was sentenced for two years along with Rs 25 lakh fine in a cheque bounce case by a local court here on Monday.
Hyderabad: Cine actor and Telangana State BJP official spokesperson Jeevitha Rajasekhar was sentenced for two years along with Rs 25 lakh fine in a cheque bounce case by a local court here on Monday. The case was filed by Soma Chandrasekhar Reddy, the producer of the film ‘Evadaithe Nakenti.’
However, Jeevitha moved a bail petition immediately after the judgment which was granted by the court after she deposited Rs 25 lakh fine. The court also asked Jeevitha to furnish two sureties and a personal bond of Rs 25 lakh. Speaking to media persons, she alleged that Reddy deceived her and owed her some money. She also made it clear that she would approach the Supreme Court if need arose. She lamented that Reddy was spreading rumours that the court punished her.
She explained that she was the director of the film while Reddy was the producer. “That being the case, how can he allege that I owe money to him?” she asked. “I deposited Rs 25 lakh respecting the court’s judgment and the court did not punish me” she added.
It is said that she took Rs 34 lakh from Reddy in 2012, giving an undertaking along with a promissory note and two cheques. She reportedly promised to return the money within three months, but did not.
