The Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation’s NextGen will host the StartAPFest in the city on December 27 and 28 to raise awareness about entrepreneurship in the region.

Looking at the growing entrepreneurial energy in the city, from students and recent graduates of local academic institutions as well as young business leaders running multimillion dollar family-owned enterprises, the chamber has created a new focus group called Andhra Chamber-NextGen.

NextGen is set to bring together all the stakeholders, define a clear roadmap of strategies and activities that would catalyse and establish a strong culture of entrepreneurship and vitalise job creation and business growth in the region.

Dr Ravi, a native of the city who was a pupil at NSM Public School, enthusiastically shared his love for Vijayawada and how he sees tremendous potential for the region to grow into a globally renowned hub for the next generation of entrepreneurs and startups.

When asked about the key traits of a successful entrepreneur, Dr Ravi said, “Willingness to take risks, learning from mistakes and celebrating failure, engaging with good mentors, thinking big and avoiding naysayers are key to growing new ideas into profitable global businesses. Others don’t see what you see as a creative entrepreneur. So entrepreneurs need to be persistent, work hard and iterate quickly with early clients.”

With successful entrepreneurs from all over India expected to speak at StartAPFest, the event will serve as a great start to the New Year, making 2015 the year of ‘Andhrapreneurship,’ a new word coined by the NextGen team to bring Andhra Pradesh back into limelight.

Potluri Bhaskar Rao, executive director of the Andhra Chamber, and Dr Ravi discussed ways to partner and share mutual strengths to support the ambitious NextGen team. Dr Ravi suggested the chamber and NextGen team to create a vibrant co-working space within the next six months, where entrepreneurs could work together, inspire one another and learn from each other.

“Co-working spaces like Runway in San Francisco, where MentorCloud is located, create positive energy and attract thought-leaders and investors to take notice and to establish business relationships with local entrepreneurs. Timing is right to establish one in the city,” Dr Ravi said.
