But in rare gesture of compassion, officials of the State Home, which provides shelter to women who are victims of atrocities, performed the marriage of one of the inmates Madhuri. Madhuri was brought to the home when she was orphaned at the age of six.

Officials at the home raised the kid, provided her education and also helped her secure a job with a private company. Madhuri got married to Dattatri, who was her colleague. Home superintendent Indira and her husband donned the roles of bride’s parents and performed the marriage as per Hindu rites.

“We raised Madhuri as our child. This was the reason why we have taken an initiative to perform her marriage,” stated Rajya Lakshmi, assistant superintendent. Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, women and child welfare chief secretary Poonam Malakondaiah, commissioner Amrapali and other officials attended the event and blessed the newlyweds.
