AP Maritime Policy in a month: Naidu
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said his government was planning to announce the maritime policy within a month to facilitate port-led economic development of the State.

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said his government was planning to announce the maritime policy within a month to facilitate port-led economic development of the State. "The government strongly favours the port-led economic growth of the state. We will announce the maritime policy within one month to facilitate such development," he told reporters on the sidelines of the CEO's Conclave in the city.
"The state has a coastline of over 950 km and ports will be developed along the coast from Bhavanapadu in Srikakulam district to Duggarajupatnam in Nellore district through public private partnership," he added.
Interacting with the chief executives of various companies gathered at the `Andhra Talks Business’ jointly organised by the Fortune India 500 and APIIC here on Wednesday, he said emphasis would be on developing Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada holistically as global cities and highlighted the fast-track growth with focus on five grids-water, power, gas, road and fibre. All clearances for setting up industries in the state would be given within 21 days through a single-window system and an electronic facility to file applications for this purpose will be introduced, he said. “We want 15 to 20 mbps high speed internet service for every home in the next three years,’’ Naidu said referring to IT not as the focus but the backbone of the industry.
The Vice-Chairman of Cognizant Technology Solutions, Laxma Narayanan, stressed the need to bring world-class research institutions. Philips India managing director concurred with him. IDG Ventures CMD Sudhir Sethi suggestged promotion of migration of skilled workers into the new cities of the State to bring them on a par with Silicon Valley.
Earlier, the CM launched the 2014 edition of Fortune India 500 mega issue along with managing director and CEO of ABP Pvt limited, the publisher of Fortune India 500 and its editor DN Mukerjea. The chief minister also launched the logo of Visakha Utsav.
