Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday decided to locate his second camp office in the capital region. He has also decided to be available for people and officials in the capital region more frequently.

Prior to Thulluru being proclaimed as part of the capital region, the administration had decked up Vijayawada after Chandrababu Naidu declared that the capital would come up around the city. The guest houses have been spruced up. The Roads and Buildings Guest House, located near Veterinary Hospital, and the Panchayat Raj Guest House, near the sub-collector office, were renovated to provide accommodation for various officials and ministers camping in the city.

The district administration has spent a few crores of rupees on the State Guest House spread over 10 acres of land near Swaraj Maidan. The guest house has one main block and two separate blocks. The main block was modernised with flooring and air-conditioning facility for all the suites. The Chief Minister had stayed a night there for the first time on December 12, after his return to power. Though he had stayed in the old block of the guest house during his previous visit, Chandrababu Naidu preferred the main block this time around. It was here that Chandrababu Naidu addressed the farmers from Thulluru on December 13.

As the guest house is located in a high security zone, with the offices of the District Collector and the City Police Commissioner located in the vicinity, the Chief Minister is likely to convert it into his second camp office. The officials also see that this guest house would be more convenient for everyone to reach. The location of the spacious Swaraj Maidan grounds would also be an added advantage for the visitors to park their vehicles when they come to meet the Chief Minister.

If everything goes well, the guest house would be used as the second camp office from April next year. The Chief Minister made it clear that government offices would be shifting to Andhra Pradesh, leaving Hyderabad only as the political capital.
