Warangal: District Collector G Kishan has directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for the ensuing Godavari Pushkaralu on the banks of River Godavari in the district with a focus on cleanliness.

The event is celebrated once in every 12 years which would take place between July 14 and 25, 2015. Three Pushkar Ghats would be readied on the banks of Godavari at Ramannagudem and Mallakatta in Eturunagaram mandal and at Mallur in Mangapet mandal in the district for the purpose, informed the Collector.

He chaired a meeting with district officials on Thursday to review the preparations for Godavari Pushkaralu.

He has directed executive engineer Sudhir of Irrigation Department to build a 100-metre Pushkar Ghat at Mallakatta.

The Collector also directed all the district heads of concerned departments to submit cost estimations at the earliest to make arrangements for Pushkaralu. “Panchayat Raj, Roads and Buildings, Tourism, RWS, Medical and Health, Revenue, Information & PR, Police and Fire Departments should work in coordination in making the arrangements,” he added. Collector Kishan wanted bathing ghats to be in place with proper sanitation mechanism.

“Medical camps should be conducted at all the three pushkar ghats for 12 days.

Construction of sheds for devotees at Mallur Temple should be completed in a speedy manner,” he stated.

BT roads would be laid covering a stretch between Eturunagaram and Ramanangudem; and Kamalapur and Ramnagar. Parking lots with ample space, barricading and installation of closed circuit television cameras would be done by Roads and Buildings Department.

He directed the superintendent Mohan of TSTransco to take steps for ensuring continuous power supply at Pushkar Ghats. A district-level committee comprising 18 officials as members and District Collector as its chairman was constituted to monitor the arrangements.

Joint Collector Pausumi Basu, DRO Surendra Karan, Information and Public Relations Department Deputy Director Balagangadhar Tilak and others were present.
