Laxma Reddy, who was sworn in two days ago, assumed charge at Secretariat on Thursday. Talking to reporters after performing customary prayers, he thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for inducting him into the Cabinet.

He pointed out that energy sector was one of the crucial departments in Telangana government. Overcoming power woes to ensure that State reached surplus situation in the next three years was the biggest challenge before him, the Minister felt. Laxma Reddy further noted that he would systematise agriculture pump sets in the coming months. Besides regularising illegal connections, directions would be given to the department to take steps for issuing new connection soon after receiving an application for the same, he added.
