Vishnuvardhan vanishes; cops search in vain

Police believe that former Congress MLA is hiding in Hyderabad to avoid arrest
Hyderabad: The stage is set for the arrest of former Congress MLA Vishunuvardhan Reddy. The police, who failed to arrest Reddy on Thursday as he went into hiding, booked another case under Section 332 (Non-Bailable) of IPC on Thursday. The Madhapur police went to arrest him at his house in Domalguda in the morning in a case pertaining to the brawl with MLA Vamsichander Reddy at a function on December 12. His family members told the police that Vishnu had gone to Delhi but the police who traced his mobile calls feel that he is somewhere in Hyderabad.
After the police examined the CCTV footage, it came to the conclusion that it was Vishnuvardhan who first assaulted Vamsichander at the marriage function held in N Convention Centre. Former Jubilee Hills MLA was averse to Kalwakurthy MLA’s presence at his brother-in-law’s marriage.
The footage clearly showed that it was an unprovoked assault by Vishnuvardhan on Kalwakurthy MLA, immediately after both shook hands. Later, followers of both the leaders intervened. Both leaders filed complaint against each other in Madhapur Police station on the same day.
The police filed cases against him under Sections 334, 506 and 34 of IPC. Given the sensitivity of the case, the police questioned about 37 individuals from both the sides. The special team, which was formed to arrest him, is making all possible efforts. In fact, the Congress leaders including Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao, TPCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah and leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy tried to mediate between the two and advised them to withdraw the cases. But both sides refused to do so saying that the incident was purely personal one and had nothing do with party politics.
Meanwhile, Vishnuvardhan filed a bail petition in Ranga Reddy court, which will come for hearing on Friday. On the other hand, the Madhapur police registered a case against him for intentionally hurting Vamsichander’s gunman under Section 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of IPC, which is Non-Bailable. It is believed Vishnuvardhan who tried to get anticipatory bail from the court is in Hyderabad. The police found both his mobiles switched off and analysed the call details.
