District Collector M Raghunandan Rao stressed on the need for bridging the divide between urban and rural areas in terms of amenities to promote balanced growth.
Speaking at the Municipal Co-ordination Committee meeting at his camp office on Thursday, he announced that Kondapalli and Ibrahimpatnam panchayats in Krishna district were selected for the development of basic infrastructure for the betterment of the people’s lifestyle.
“There are 57,130 families living in Kondapalli and 14,865 families in Ibrahimpatnam. Priority would be given to supply of drinking water,” the Collector said.
The collector directed the revenue department to ensure that the land identified for execution of the schemes to supply drinking water to Kondapalli and Ibrahimpatnam was handed over to the panchayat raj department before Sankranti. Vijayawada Municipal Corporation executive engineer Padmanabham was asked to take up the water schemes soon after the land was handed over, in collaboration with the Rural Water Supply Department.
“The tourism potential of Kondapalli and Ibrahimpatnam could be tapped fully if basic amenities in the two villages were developed,” the Collector added.
Sarpanches B Ammaji (Kondapalli) and Ajmeera Swarna (Ibrahimpatnam) urged the Collector to solve the drinking water problem of the two panchayats and ensure speedy completion of the proposed development works.
Additional joint collector BL Chennakesava Rao, sub-Collector S Naga Lakshmi, MDO K Srinivasa Reddy and other officials attended the meeting.
