Visakhapatnam: The first phase of construction of the Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) would be completed in December 2015, Vice-Chancellor Prof. RGB Bhagvath Kumar has said.

Addressing the first convocation of the university here on Friday, he said the first phase required academic building, boys and girls hostels and a canteen for which Rs 90 crore was needed. Funds for the construction were being sought initially from the establishment head on recoupment basis. The UGC sanctioned Rs 5 crore under one-time catch-up grant in 2012 with a matching grant of Rs 5 crore from the Andhra Pradesh government, the Vice-Chancellor said.

Listing out the achievements, he said the university began its saga in 2008 with 54 students and has now grown to 448 students with representation from 18 States.

He lauded the 43 students who graduated and received their certificates from Chief Justice of India HL Dattu.
