Vijayawada: Farmers in Katrinapadu village under Musunur mandal on Sunday squatted on Gopavaram-Mirzapuram road to express their protest over erratic power supply to their fields. The farmers brought their oxen carts too to block the traffic on the road.
The ryots alleged that the Assistant Engineer in the power sub-station under the pretext of faulty transformer had been denying power supply to them.
As a result the crops in upland areas were wilting. Instead of getting the repair works executed by contractors, the officials were demanding that the farmers should help in carrying out repairs to transformers and other equipment.
