New Delhi: India is likely to seek a clarification from the UN over a reference to 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed as 'sahib' in an official document.

Gary Quinlan, the chair of the UN Security Council Committee, on December 17 referred to Saeed as "Hafiz Mohammad Sahib" in a communique.
The communique was on the activities of banned terror organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba founded by Saeed, pursuing earlier UN resolutions the al Qaeda and individuals and entities associated with it.
The UN declared Saeed's Jamaat ud Dawaa as a terrorist organisation in December 2008, weeks after 10 terrorists allegedly trained by him attacked Mumbai and left 166 people dead in a three-day siege. The UN ban meant freezing of funds and other financial assets or economic resources.
The US had announced a $10 million bounty on Saeed, the founder of LeT, and his brother-in-law in 2012.
Saeed roams free in Pakistan and often addresses public rallies in which he routinely makes inflammatory statements.
