Andhra Loyola College will host a three-day national seminar on the recent trends and practices in ornamental fishery with special emphasis on promotion of women entrepreneurship in aquaculture. The seminar will begin today. It is being organised by the college, in association with the zoology and aquaculture department of Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU).

Secretary G Mathew Srirangam on Wednesday said, “The seminar is aimed at promoting ornamental fishery as an industry and encourage women entrepreneurs to take up aquaculture by creating awareness among them about its potential. It will cover how to breed aquarium fish, their maintenance and disease control, health management and other aspects. On the third day of the seminar, a field visit to Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Aquaculture at Manikonda will be organised for participants. Marine Products Export Development Authority director (marketing) N Ramesh will attend the inaugural function. Six lectures will be delivered. As many as 62 papers on a variety of topics have been received for presentation during the seminar.”

College principal Fr GAP Kishore, zoology department head Fr P Antony and other faculty were present at the press conference.
