Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will inaugurate the 66th National Pharmaceutical Conference at Hitex on Friday, according to Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao. Addressing a press conference along with officials and conference promoters at Secretariat here, he said the three-day conference will help portray Hyderabad as international hub of pharma industry in three years.

This would not boost exporting capabilities and attract investments in a big way to improve job opportunities, the Minister maintained. This is the platform to discuss the world drug manufacturing practices, share the ideas, technology and expertise to increase quality and maintain better standards in the pharma industry, he opined. Jupally also added the Telangana State would present its bulk drug production capabilities to the international companies.

While 20 per cent of pharma exports are from Hyderabad, a total 30 per cent of products being consumed at national level. The industry aims to reach the target to increase exporting capacity to Rs 1 lakh crore from existing Rs 17,000 crore.
