Microsoft, Walmart coming: Naidu
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said his five-day trip to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) to “network’ with the CEOs and industrialists from across the globe proved to be successful one as the government had finalised several deals with some of the major companies like Walmart, Microsoft, Pepsi Co, etc.
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said his five-day trip to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) to “network’ with the CEOs and industrialists from across the globe proved to be successful one as the government had finalised several deals with some of the major companies like Walmart, Microsoft, Pepsi Co, etc. He said he was confident that Andhra Pradesh would become the Gateway of India soon.
Addressing a media conference here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said he had participated in 35 events at the WEF. He said there was now a marked change in the perspective of global leaders who have started looking at India as a favourable destination for investments.
Taking advantage of this, he said he had assured all the industrialists whom he had met that the AP government would give all clearances in 21 days and through single window system. He said the AP industrial policy would also have deemed permission clauses. He said he told the prospective investors that the government has introduced e-Bizz system.
Naidu said his government would soon announce the incentives and investor friendly packages to attract investments to the State. He said he was also pursuing with the centre urging them to relax their polices as well. He said former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates had responded positively and agreed to bring Microsoft to Visakhapatnam and also offer its help in implementing the state government’s flagship programme Skill Development Project.
The retail market giant Walmart, Naidu said, has agreed to cooperate with the government in five issues, including branding of 100 DWACRA products. Wipro has agreed to expand the Santoor soap manufacturing unit in Hindupur and Pepsi Co has announced that it would set up a food processing unit in Sri City in Chittoor district. This unit will manufacture soft drinks based on fruit pulp like mango, papaya and bottling of coconut water etc.
He said the FMCG multinational had reportedly expressed interest in lifting about 70 million tones of mango production in the State, against its intention to procure about 250 million tones of mango pulp. They will also establish mango pulp production units in East and West Godavari as well as in Krishna districts in the State.
