Hyderabad: Tata Motors, which has launched Bolt hatchback in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana markets on Tuesday, is expecting the model to increase its sales across both the states. Available in four trims, Bolt is priced here from Rs 4.45 lakh to Rs 7.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Hyderabad). “AP, TS account for total car sales of 12,000 units a month.

Of the total, hatchback contributes nearly 5,800 units to the total, playing a dominant role. So, we expect Bolt to do well in this market,” Ashesh Dhar, Head, Product Marketing, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, told media after unveiling Bolt here.

At present, Tata Motors enjoys a market share of 9 to 10 per cent in AP and TS, selling 1,400 units a month on an average. “We have been a dominant player in diesel hatchback segment in the two states with our models such as Indica and Vista. With the arrival of Bolt, we will also consolidate our position in petrol car sales,” he said. Replying to a query, he said the company would target personal car segment with Bolt. “We have good presence in commercial segment. So, Bolt will be target at the personal segment,” he added.

On the future product launches, he said Tata Motors would launch two new products every year till 2020.

According to him, Bolt is available with petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol Bolt is powered by 1.2-litre Revotron engine, capable of generating 90 PS peak power and 140 Nm maximum torque. It comes with multi-drive technology, a first in the segment, that offers three driving modes – Sport, Eco and City.
