Hyderabad: The Bowenpally police on Tuesday nabbed a five-member gang involved in burglary at Ajay Harinath’s house, a businessman at Tadbund, Bowenpally, in December. Police recovered gold biscuits weighing 2.3 kilos, 15 tolas of gold ornaments, four Innova cars, two motorcycles, a laptop, six cell phones, three wrist watches and a cash of Rs 12, 70,000. The total cache is estimated to be over Rs 1.25 crore.

Md Tahsin Ali, 27, Md Mohsin, 29, Shaik Aslamullah, 23, all residents of Sikh Village, Mudfort and Nemichand Jain, 35, and Akshay Jain, both residents of Pot Market were involved in crime, according to DCP (North) Sudheer Babu. Based on a complaint by the owner who suspected the role of his driver and watchman in the crime, police registered a case and investigated the matter.

During investigation, the gang members confessed to their involvement in the burglary when the residents were away. On Tuesday, at 6 am, acting on a tip-off, the cops raided the house of the suspect, Tahsin, the driver and nabbed him along with Mohsin Ali, his brother. After their confession, the other accused who had assisted the duo in disposing of stolen items was also nabbed.

“Tahsin who used to work as driver of Ajay for last seven years, hatched a plan to commit robbery at his employer’s place. As per their plan, they took the help of one Khadeer, the watchman and used duplicate keys to open the lockers with ease and decamped with gold and cash on numerous occasions. With the stolen cash, they purchased cars and spent the money lavishly on parties and birthdays,” the DCP said, adding that efforts are being made to nab Khadeer. who is still at large.
