New AP capital to have 3 layers
The new capital for Andhra Pradesh would have three layers and four sectors, if the initial plans of the government are to be taken into consideration.
- Capital city to have vertical structures

Vijayawada: The new capital for Andhra Pradesh would have three layers and four sectors, if the initial plans of the government are to be taken into consideration. The three layers include the capital region spread over 7,000 square kilometers with 58 revenue mandals of both Krishna and Guntur districts followed by the 200 sq km of the capital city spread over 29 villages. The third layer spread over 2,000 acres would be the core capital where the government establishments would come up.
The capital would have five sectors of live, work, play and learn that would determine the activity for people connected with the capital. The live area would have all accommodation (housing), while the work area would have all offices. The play area would have all entertainments including parks that the government proposes while learn area would have educational institutions right from play school to the institutions of higher learning.
The four sectors would have better road and rail (metro) connectivity to ensure that the transport and the transit period is considerably less and comfortable. The road network from the first layer of the core capital to the second layer of capital city would connect all the 29 villages widening the existing roads or providing alternative roads. The government proposes to protect the geography of all the 29 existing villages while providing road network. The plan would also protect all the existing places of worship located in the capital city (of existing 29 villages).
The capital would also have Green Plan to protect the existing greenery like parks and Blue Plan to save existing water resources like tanks. The Blue Plan would protect existing water tanks from encroachments and the Green Plan would focus on expansion of existing parks or creation of new parks for entertainment and also walking tracks.
The proposal would prevent expansion of all existing towns like Mangalagiri, Tenali, Undavalli, Amaravathi and Tadikonda and insist on the developers going for vertical buildings. The four sectors (live, work, play and learn) of the core capital would have 100 per cent vertical with skyscrapers and the Singapore company is working out both the master plan and the structural plan.
Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Commissioner N Srikanth, who was part of the State government delegation that received training in Singapore from January 19 to 24, told the media persons on Wednesday that Singapore’s Center for Livable Cities was preparing the master plan for the capital. They are also working on different ways to develop the capital and utilisation of the 30,000 acres of land that is being taken from the farmers through land pooling. He expressed confidence that the CRDA would meet the deadline of pooling the targeted 30,000 acres in the stipulated period and ‘move on to the second stage of capital plan’.
