One of the chefs responsible for bringing name to the institution on the food front is head cook Sanda Ramesh Babu who retired from his services on Friday after satiating the guests’ taste buds for more than four decades. Director General Dr SK Rao and other staff gave an affectionate farewell to Ramesh Babu at a brief function.
Ramesh Babu joined the ASCI when he was 16 as a tennis boy but was subsequently drafted into the kitchen. “I joined here for Rs 40 per month but not am retiring with a take home salary of more than Rs 50,000. I learnt cooking in the same kitchen where I was made the head cook in 2011. I am going home with a lot of satisfaction and sweet memories,” Ramesh Babu, a resident of Balapura Basthi of Erramanzil Colony in Khairatabad said.
Praising the commitment levels of Ramesh Babu, mess officer BY Reddy recalled that Ramesh stayed back in the office to serve food for the participants during the curfew imposed after the demolition of the controversial structure in Ayodhya. “Ramesh Bhai is known for his discipline and punctuality. We are going to miss him badly,” said Deepak, an employee in the mess.
