Hyderabad: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) management on Saturday has approved the detailed project report (DPR) for setting up of 600 MW power plant (Stage-II) at Jaipur in Adilabad district.

The decision was taken by the Board of Directors of the SCCL at the 528th board meeting, which was chaired by the Managing Director N. Sridhar, held in Hyderabad.

According to the DPR, the expansion of Stage-II project would be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 3,570 crores. While the equity of the SCCL is 30 per cent, the rest is borne by loan.

The decision was taken following the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who visited Jaipur Power Plant on December 25 last year. The Chief Minister directed the SCCL to take up the expansion of the project at the same place.

The availability of 220 acres of land required for the expansion and the water facility to the extent of 0.7 tmcft made easy for the board to approve the DPR within a month of CM’s directions. The other decisions taken at the Board meeting are: Production enhancement from 1.50 MT per annum to 2.5 MT from the existing Kakatiya Opencast project which is linked to KTPP and BHPL (TSGenco). Production will also be enhanced at Khairagura Opencast from 2.5 MT per annum to 3.75 MT.

The Board also approved the employee-centric welfare initiative, Introduction of Special Female Voluntary Retirement Scheme – 2015.

The Board meeting was attended by AK Bhalla, additional secretary, Ministry of Coal, Aravind Kumar, secretary, Energy (GoTS), DN Prasad, project advisor, Ministry of Coal and other directors of the SCCL
