Have you ever felt the necessity to scream at that TV commercial that tells you to have a happy period or ever felt like getting a refund from Mother Nature for something you’ve never subscribed for in the first place or even felt the need to just throw away your sanitary pads and just use something comfortable and clean to make you feel better even on the day or night of your heaviest period?. Well ladies, you prayers have now been answered as we have two new kinds to products in the market that help you with your periods much better than a sanitary napkin, make you feel liberated and also environment friendly. Introducing to you two of very new products; a boon to all women out there who complains about leakage or odor etc. On one hand we have tampons and on the other we have menstrual cups which might not make your periods happy but surely make them comfortable to deal with even on your bad days. Let’s talk a little more about the two above mentioned products.

Tampons:
Its more like finger size cylindrical shaped sanitary product made with absorbent material that is used for inner sanitation. It greatly works like a plug that absorbs the flow and is also so good that you don’t even feel that it’s there helping you in a way you’ve never imagined, doesn’t let the flow out, doesn’t smell, keeps it dry which literally everyone’s dream out there. It is also easy to dispose as all you need to do is flush it of; that is if your drainage pipe lines are nicely wide. Forget the days when you had to literally hide your sanitation like you were carrying a bomb or something in a bathroom, in many cases tampons have said to lessen periods by one day since they help in absorption, but you also need to keep changing it frequently as keeping it in for a long time can give you bad infection that being said they need to be changed every 6 to 7 hours. In India the only company that sells tampons is OB Tampons, you get these in two types one is super absorbent which will give you 10 tampons a pack and the other is normal which gives you 20 tampons each pack both packs costing 110 Rs each. But if you go to buy this product you need to get checked by your gynecologist for Toxic shock syndrome which might keep you away from using a tampon.

Menstrual Cups:
Second form of inner sanitation which nothing but a silicone cup roughly the size of a 15 ml cup you find and as big as your index finger shaped like a bell. These sanitation products can be used for a very long time that is somewhere about 15 to 20 years. Like a tampon a menstrual cup helps you in keeping the flow inside; but unlike any other sanitation this wont absorbs your flow it will simply collect it in the cup. The best part of this is that it is environmental friendly and the only thing you need to dispose is that flow that is collected and it is also very easy to clean since most of it is silicone. The even better part about these cups are that they are reusable which reduces you almost 20 years worth of tampon and sanitary napkin cost, this is a way also reduces quantity of waste that happens because of tampons and sanitary napkins. Unlike tampons you do not need to worry about any medical risk with a menstrual cup. The three disadvantage of a menstrual cups is that, few of them are expensive and unlike a tampon it causes a tear in the hymen and also one needs to be careful while cleaning it in a public toilet since it can create bacterial problems , but this is not always which is a relief. There are three brands that sell menstrual cups in India and they are, a Shecup, Alx cup and the last one is the Silky cup, each one having its own specialty and price.

The advantages these products give are good since they literally make you feel liberated and free helping you ladies do tasks that you once found hard to do during your periods like playing sports, go out to swim, not worry about odor and other such activities.
