Mancherial (Adilabad): Trade unions organised a dharna at the Revenue Divisional Office here on Thursday as part of the nation-wide ‘Jail Bharo’ agitation protesting against the Central government’s anti-labour policies. The All-India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) district leader Sitaramaiah slammed the Central and State governments for forcing people to undergo several ordeals by following policies which are against the people.

He came down heavily on TRS government for the delay in sanctioning 43 per cent fitment to government employees and not regularising the services of contract workers. The AITUC leader hit out at the state government for not recognising Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and Anganwadi workers as regular employees. He demanded that the Telangana government should fix Rs 15,000 as minimum salary for contract workers. Sitaramaiah faulted the government for not implementing salaries to contract workers of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) fixed by the high-power committee.
