Kuchipudi village to have Natyaramam.In a major development that would give a boost to the State’s own classical dance form Kuchipudi, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to establish a ‘Kuchipudi Natyaramam’ in Kuchipudi village in Krishna district with an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore.

Hyderabad: In a major development that would give a boost to the State’s own classical dance form Kuchipudi, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to establish a ‘Kuchipudi Natyaramam’ in Kuchipudi village in Krishna district with an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore.

Addressing a joint press conference here on Thursday, Information and Public Relations and Culture Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy, AP Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad and the newly-appointed Kuchipudi Natyaramam chairman Kuchibhotla Anand said Kuchipudi was the native classical dance form of the State and one among the nine recognised classical dances in the country.

Hence, it was decided to promote it within the country and abroad, they said.Palle Raghnatha Reddy said the proposed Natyaramam reflected the State government’s commitment to revive the tradition of promoting culture and arts of the Telugus patronised by famous Vijayanagara emperor Krishna Deva Raya.

The Natyaramam will have an international institute for Kuchipudi dance, research and training, a museum, a library and residential facilities for scholars and artistes. Apart from this, the Natyaramam will have the cutting edge technologies integrated in its development to make it one of the best art centres in the world. In line with this, Kuchibhotla Anand, who has been engaged in promoting arts and culture of the State has been appointed as the Natyaramam's chairman and an action plan would be prepared to take up further steps in developing the Natyaramam as well as to achieve its objectives.
