Rs.1.5-cr ganja confiscated by Prohibition and Excise Department
Rs.1.5-cr ganja confiscated by Prohibition and Excise Department about 600 kg of dry ganja was seized by the Prohibition and Excise Department and five smugglers were arrested at Narsipatnam.
On Friday morning, about 600 kg of dry ganja was seized by the Prohibition and Excise Department and five smugglers were arrested at Narsipatnam. With this seizure, the count reached to about 1.5 tonnes of dry ganja and nine people to be arrested in two days in Visakhapatnam District confirmed the Deputy Commissioner of Excise M. Satyanarayana.
The alleged smugglers were identified as Ramu Yadav, Santosh Kumar and Gopal Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Anantharam Medha and Arun Kumar Nayak from Odisha.
Just a day back, the Excise officials on Thursday seized about 700 kg of dry ganja at the same place arresting two – Radheshyam of Madhya Pradesh and Munnalal of Uttar Pradesh. Also, cash of Rs. 36, 700 and the lorry was seized by the police.
The task force of the Excise Department in another raid on Thursday seized about 220 kg of dry ganja and arrested three –G. Nageswara Rao from Devarapalli mandal, V. Ramana from Anakapalli and Behera from Odisha.
