SCCL employees suffering from chronic diseases heave a sigh of relief

Khammam: Finally, it appears that the long wait of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) employees, who have been suffering from chronic diseases, is over as the management of the SCCL has decided to reinstate the Singareni corporate medical board (SCMB) that reviews the health condition of its staff.

After finding some irregularities, the SCCL had discontinued its medical board. It left a large number of employees, who were suffering from chronic diseases and were not able to continue their services, in lurch. It may be mentioned here that the medical board submits a detailed report to the SCCL management about the health condition of the employees after due verification.

Based on this report, the SCCL will take a decision whether the employee is able to continue his services or not. If anybody is found not meeting the required health parameters, the management will give a job to the dependent of that employee. Taking advantage of this, quite a few employees in spite of their wellness applied to the medical board seeking employment to their wards.

They reportedly submitted fake medical certificates to the board to convince them. Following this, the SCCL management discontinued the medical board in September 2014. It left a huge disappointment for the employees who are really unwell. Weighing the gravity of the situation, the SCCL Director (Finance and PAW) S Vivekanand had reportedly apprised the hardships of the employees to the Chairman and Managing Director N. Sridhar, who in turn gave his green signal to reinstate the medical board.

With this, the fate of 277 employees, who were waiting for the medical board’s verification and recommendations, will be decided between March 9 and 11. Further, the SCCL will also issue orders of recruiting 540 employees under dependent quota in a couple of days.
