Therefore the congress high command has reinforced its confidence that only a Reddy could get the power and glory back in Telangana which is dominated now by the Velama's of Ranga Reddy district and Nizamabad.


In 2014, Uttam Kumar Reddy lost the Huzurabad assembly segment even though he had won recording the highest vote’s margin among the 12 MLAs from district.


He also won from Kodad segment in 1999 and 2004. Also, Uttam Kumar Reddy was elected as MLA four times and in the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government, he was a minister of Housing, Weaker Section Housing Program.


During the 2014 elections, incidentally, a car allegedly belonging to him had about Rs.4 crore cash hidden in the engine of the SUV but was burnt and abandoned by his men.
